ESL COMPANION INTRODUCTIONBack to Introduction Learning outcomes The ESL Companion learning outcomes represent what students would be expected to attain following successful teaching and learning. The learning outcomes describe a set of practical, observable ways in which students will demonstrate their achievements in English language learning. The learning outcomes should be read in conjunction with the curriculum focus statements, taking into account the teaching setting and the degree of teacher support available. Particular criteria are used to differentiate the outcomes expected at different levels. These relate to the nature and degree of teacher control and input occurring in certain learning contexts. They also explain the relationship of the teaching context to the learning outcomes. The following summary helps teachers to better relate learning outcomes for each stage of the ESL Companion to their particular group of students. |
