Structure of the key learning area

Curriculum focus

For each strand at each level the material under the curriculum focus heading explores the distinctive characteristics of the strand. It provides information about the types of experiences students may undertake as well as the skills and knowledge they are expected to develop to meet the standards specified in the learning outcomes and indicators. The curriculum focus also contains examples of learning activities, clarifies the nature of the elements associated with particular strands and explains the ways in which elements, skills, techniques and processes are used at particular levels.
